Chapter 5: Exchange of souls.
When Tang Cheng Cheng woke up once more, her surroundings were covered in darkness. Her body felt so so warm that she started to sweat. The walls didn’t even seem to have a crack for the wind to accidentally blow in and it was always extremely cold late at night inside her house.
Her thoughts then went to the strange dream that she had. She had dreamt that she became a man and an army of people kept shouting “Young Master”. The “young master” lived in a super luxurious house and had a bronze mirror that was so big that it was scary.
Wouldn’t she would be so lucky to really be someone’s “Young master”? She won’t even need to worry about her food and clothing. She just had to wave her hands to drink some tea and open her mouth when food is served. She won’t need to wake up in the middle of the night before it was bright outside to pick a basket and go to the market to make her deliveries for money. She would also have enough money to pay for the medical fees for her father’s legs... No, if she was the young master, then her father would definitely be the old master. Once he stepped out of the door, he would ride a carriage so how could he be run over by the horse carriage?!
Ah ah... dreams are always beautiful, aren’t they?
She should stop thinking about nonsense and so she pulled off her blankets...
Why does it feel so soft and so warm?
And why is it not freezing cold when she pulled away her blanket?
Confusion started to creep into her mind as she didn’t expect something to block her way in front of her.
She touched it with her hands and it was a... BED TENT?!
How can such a thing turn up at her house?
She obviously slept in a wooden bed with a flat surface that had already been mended one too many times!
This was getting so weird! Both her hands started to move around her body and her chest WAS STILL FLAT! She froze stupidly at the spot.
How....
The side of her mouth twitched.
Was she still not awake yet?!
Her hands pulled off the bed curtains frantically and almost fell down when she got off the bed.
The girl that was sitting in front of the table had nodded off but woke up suddenly at the sound of someone rustling around.
“Young master, what is it?”
The girl politely asked as the candlelight inside the house highlighted the puzzlement on her face. Tang Cheng Cheng looked as if she was caught stealing something with the shocked look on her face.
She is being called “Young master” again!
Panic filled her mind as she suddenly thought of an incident that happened yesterday—— There was a girl who looked exactly like her yesterday. Don’t tell her that person really is...
“I’m going out for a while!”
She immediately ran barefoot out of the house.
“Young master, where are you going?”
The girl immediately grabbed the outer robe from the clothing rack and ran after her.
The moment Tang Cheng Cheng cleared the doors, a pair of icy cold small hands covered her mouth and dragged her into a dark spot beside the building.
She turned her head and staggered back as she saw “herself”.
“Young master!”
The maid, Li Er that had followed behind couldn’t see him anywhere. She thought that maybe the master had ran back to the HaiYa residence, so she lifted her lantern higher and rushed after him.
When they could not see Li Er any longer, that “girl” released her.
She looked at the young girl who had her own exact features.
“Who who... are you?” Her question trembled on her lips.
She had become Li Household’s Young master, don’t tell her the person who had become her was... Li Hai Jiao?
Mother![1]
Her body now was taken over by an adult man?!
“I was about to ask you the same question!”
The Young girl.... No, Li Hai Jiao who now exchanged his body with her was fuming mad when he turned and walked straight into the building.
He was still wearing the wet clothes from when they both had dropped into the lake. It was now half dried after an hour or more had passed.
He walked familiarly towards the closet and took out a thick shirt then casually took all of his own clothes in front of her and donned the dry and comfortable clothes on. He then snuggled into the warm caverns of the blankets and shuddered heavily at the same time.
The cold indifferent eyes then turned to look at Tang Cheng Cheng who stood frozen on the spot.
“You, come here.” He curled his fingers in a come hither motion.
“Ah?”
“Faster come here!”[*]
Tang Cheng Cheng thought that although she was used to her own delicate soothing voice but when he used it, it was as if it had become firm and authoritative.
She hurriedly climbed on the bed and tucked her icy feet inside the warm blankets.
Li Hai Jiao looked at the undignified way she had climbed into the bed and suppressed his desire to shout at her. That was because Li Er had just came back.
Translator’s note:
[1] a mild curse word, that translates and pronounced (without pronouncing the r at the end) exactly as mother. Its on par with “damn it”, or even “shit”
[*]I’m pretty sure I have mixed my sentence structure up with Chinese but I couldn’t find a better way to describe his arrogance
