Young Master, Come and Possess Me!

Chapter 47: Creation of the realm barrier

Back at the HaiYa Residence, Fox pointed to the row of rooms closest to the entrance, and said to Lynx and Jackal:

"You two will live there, just choose whichever room you want to live in among yourselves."

The quarters was a place inside the residence that was solely reserved for servants, and there were five rooms in total. With the exception of the single room that was to be occupied by the first ranking maid, the rest of the rooms there had big wide beds that multiple people could sleep on. It was obvious that Li Hai Jiao used to have a lot of maids and servants serving in his own residence before this.

"That’s so awesome!"

Lynx who was in high spirits jumped off Tang Cheng Cheng's arm. She then pirouetted in the air and twisted herself into her human form. With her wobbly gait, she excitedly inspected the rooms one after another. She wanted to choose a room that suits her the most so that whenever she took a nap there, she would be able to sleep comfortably.

Jackal had little interest in the rooms.

"Master, I feel that the aura of this residence is not right when I entered it. I think I will first make a barrier realm in this yard. The scope is too large so the barrier effect might be relatively weak. If the being has cultivated their powers for many years and try later on to break into this place, I’m afraid that I might not be powerful enough to stop it. But at least if someone tried to break into the barrier then I will know of it right away."

"Very well, you may go and complete it."

Jackal jumped up high in the air then leaped a few times on the roof ridge only to then settle right in the middle of it before performing his realm barrier spell techniques with his hands and recited the mantras.

"What is he doing?" Tang Cheng Cheng asked curiously.

"He's casting a barrier on this place." Fox replied.

Lynx, who had already found a room, toddled over to them.

"Barrier?" What is that?

"No one can come into this place now except for us." Fox explained with a serious tone.

Tang Cheng Cheng only understood vaguely of what Fox had meant.

"This will keep us safe inside the house?"

"Yes. Unless the being that is trying to attack us has more mana than Jackal."

"You mean if they are more powerful than jackal, then this enchantment will be broken?"

"That’s right."

"How powerful is Jackal?"

"He had cultivated his powers for the past five hundred years."

"I have two hundred years." Lynx piped up smugly.

"How many years have you had?" Tang Cheng Cheng then asked Fox.

"One thousand four hundred and eighty years."

Fox had thought that perhaps she might show some sort of fear or admiration when he heard his impressive powers, but he didn't expect her to scrutinized her fingers as she bent them one after another. Fox just couldn’t understand what she was doing right now.

"What are you doing, what are you doing?" Lynx asked curiously.

Tang Cheng Cheng ignored Lynx's question while she was still focused on her own fingers.

After a while, she stopped moving them.

"You now have four hundred and forty-four years of mana left." She said bluntly to Fox.

"Ah?"

"Didn't you say that you have about 30% mana left? The 30% of the 1,480 years of cultivation is 444 years. So, you can't even beat Jackal now. Will Jackal become your master instead?"

"Even if I can't win now, I'm still his master!"

Fox jumped up high and knocked the back of her head.

"Besides, there are also those with longer years of cultivation who lost to those with shorter years too. I myself had defeated a 1,600-year-old fox in the past. It doesn’t mean that you are automatically strong on the years of cultivation alone, you have to rely on both your natural talent and your ability too." Fox declared arrogantly.

"Oh."

Oh what?

Did she actually think that winning against a 1,600-year-old demon fox would be an easy task?

"My battle with that demon fox was really fierce at that time. We both caused the sand dunes to fly while we rained stones down on each other. It caused so much destruction that the other bystanders could no longer see the sun nor the moon shine onto the earth. We even almost flattened half of the mountain."

Thinking back on the ferocious battle and his final victory, Fox felt his heart puffed up proudly.

"I was also fighting against a big demon fox with golden fur, so I knew how dangerous it was."

"Is golden fur very powerful?"

"Of course!"

"Then what color are you?"

"Silver."

A demon fox can only earn his/her golden fur after practicing cultivation for more than 1,500 years. Fox was about to get his in another 20 years.

"Is it the same color as the snow fox cloak in the trunk?"

Is this maiden trying to pick the kettle that is not boiling[1]?

"When our souls are exchanged, I will definitely end you then!" Fox gritted his teeth as sparks flew in his eyes.

"Why are you trying to kill me again? Did I say something wrong? I really have no idea what the color of your fur looks like. Why don’t you just change back our souls now and show it to me?!"

Tang Cheng Cheng's eyes widened in anticipation.

Fox turned his head away from her and decided to ignore the white-eyed wolf[2].

"Then you probably have a Mrs. Fox too, right?" Tang Cheng Cheng suddenly asked him again.

Translation corner:

[1] 那壶不开提那壶 - to pick the kettle that is not boiling means that mentioning something that shouldn’t be mentioned at all.

[2] 白眼狼 - White eyed wolf is a name used to describe a person who had forgotten the good deeds of people helping him/her in the past and just break all bridges after benefitting from that person and return the help that the person gave in the past with bad actions against them.

Mari’s thoughts:

I think Cheng Cheng is deliberately trying to offend Fox whenever she can at this point.
