But I fell in love with you - Chapter 69
Yang Nainai turned her head and saw Hu Sili's heavily made-up face. Although she was only eighteen years old, she made herself look and smell like a fully matured woman.
Ma Shanshan was still dancing happily on the gaming machine, so it did not even occur to her that Yang Nainai was in danger.
Hu Sili didn’t come here alone this time around. She was accompanied by three other girls. Yang Nainai could recognize one of the girls as the one who mocked her when she was framed back then. This girl, Jiang Yu always sang Hu Sili’s praises and constantly circled around her like a fly.
Yang Nainai glanced at them once then turned around to avoid paying attention to the three of them.
Hu Sili had suffered a big blow to her fragile ego the last time she met her so she was trying to assert her status back this time around. When she saw Yang Nainai ignoring her, she held back her breath to avoid beating her up on impulse. Instead she asked Jiang Yu,
"Xiao Yu, do you remember our famous Yang Sumo wrestler who was in our Sixth form middle school?"
Her insults pricked painfully at Yang Nainai's ears, but she still turned a blind eye to them and acted as if she didn't know them at all.
However, several people who were going to come over to play the dance machine felt that something was wrong when they saw their body language. They no longer dared to come over, and started to leave one after another, turning it into a restricted zone in just a blink of an eye.
Hu Sili led her minions and signaled all three of them to surround Yang Nainai. They did not act physically but only continued on to humiliate Yang Nainai with their insults.
Jiang Yu laughed,
"Sili, don't say that. Although everyone used to call her a sumo wrestler, she seemed to have lost a little weight nowadays. Maybe the 200-pound wrestler might now have to compete in the 100-pound category instead?"
Hu Sili and the others immediately guffawed at her words. Another short haired girl sneered,
"Isn't she still called a sumo then?"
The other echoed, "You’re right, she’s still a sumo."
They started to draw a lot more onlookers’ attention with their loud piercing laughter, but since it was none of their business, no one bothered to come over to find out what was happening. Ma Shanshan finally finished dancing, and when she turned around, she realized something was wrong. She stepped forward to pull Yang Nainai towards her and asked,
"What happened?"
Yang Nainai smiled slightly and shook her head.
"Nothing, we should go now since you have finished dancing."
Ma Shanshan was not stupid, and she could see very clearly that there was something wrong with the whole situation.
Just as she was about to open her mouth to ask, she heard the opposite girl mock her,
"Yang Sumo, is this your teammate? Is she also a wrestler in the same category as you? 100 pounds?"
Yang Nainai turned her head back and glared at them but she didn’t retaliate when Ma Shanshan retorted against them,
"Where did these wild chickens[1] come from? Don't you have business to do today?"
Yang Nainai was surprised. She never thought that she would one day witness Ma Shanshan’s offensive side. She was clearly implying that Hu Sili and her bunch of cohorts are prost i tutes!
Although what she said was vulgar, Yang Nainai only felt happy at this very moment. This was the only way to gain satisfaction in this whole sorry situation.
Hu Sili became stunned for a second. She then began to curse,
"Fu k you, Mahler Gobi[2]. You filthy fat b!tch, who are you scolding?"
Ma Shanshan was the same height as her, but Hu Sili was wearing a pair of high heels today, so she now stood a few centimeters taller than her. Ma Shanshan emitted a warrior’s aura in this cold battlefield, so she did not even feel a tinge of fear while facing her at all.
She then stepped in front of Yang Nainai, shielding her while her eyes sparked in anger,
"I’m scolding you, you loose legged wild chicken. Why are you shameless enough to even show your face among the upright citizens? If I were you, I would have stripped all my chicken feathers, cut myself off from the public and repent in silence so I can save myself from being embarrassed."
Yang Nainai could tell that the situation was going to descend into chaos soon when she looked at Hu Sili's expression. Before Hu Sili could slap her, she pulled Ma Shanshan back a few steps.
Hu Sili ended up slapping the air instead and it caused her to stomp her feet in anger. She then rushed forward to hit Yang Nainai.
Before Yang Nainai could move, Ma Shanshan had already raised her leg to kick at Hu Sili, causing her to almost fall over. Zhang Qiyun then appeared just in time to catch her and prevent her from losing her face in front of everyone.
Hu Sili was about to yell at them further, but when she saw Zhang Qiyun, she suddenly acted as if she was weak and pitiful,
"Big brother~ why did you only turn up here now. They are bullying me."
Shivers ran up both Ma Shanshan’s and Yang Nainai’s spine at the same time. Their palms itched so badly with the urge to slap Hu Sili as they cringed in disgust at the sickly sweet nasally voice Hu Sili had used to garner his affections.
Zhang Qiyun probably felt the same way with the way he slightly frowned at her fake tone. He did not reprimand her for it but instead looked at Yang Nainai and Ma Shanshan, and said coldly,
"What happened here?"
Ma Shanshan then saw the two boys behind Zhang Qiyun. Anyone could tell at a glance that those two guys didn’t have good intentions. Her sense of danger finally perked up as her fear increased. She clenched Yang Nainai's hand in anxiousness.
"Zhang Qiyun, take care of your sister. Go to the hospital if her mental illness is getting bad again. Everyone had already seen what happened here, so there’s no use for her to pretend to be crazy and bully others in public."
Yang Nainai took the opportunity to speak first. Her eyes darted around while she looked desperately for a route to escape.
The moment Zhang Qiyun’s eyes landed on Yang Nainai, his gaze became wintery cold as they were now filled full of disdain for this short and fat girl.
"Yang Nainai, why is it you again?"
Hu Sili held on to Zhang Qiyun's arm tightly and raised her chin proudly.
"Brother, this time you must take the stage[3] for me and take care of these two bad women."
As soon as she finished speaking, everyone that was present were stunned.
Ma Shanshan began to laugh out loud at her shamelessness, causing Zhang Qiyun's face to ashen every single second that followed.
"Oh my mother. I was right and you turned out to be a certified chicken. I didn’t know this, but Zhang Qiyun, you are really one too. Are you trying to debut on stage with your little sister in tow? I'm sorry, I'm a good student, so I don't hire who r es like you."
Yang Nainai held back her deep urge to laugh but it was so hard to keep a straight face.
"Shut up!"
Zhang Qiyun shouted angrily at both Ma Shanshan and Hu Sili.
Yang Nainai snorted inside her heart. She knew that Hu Sili was stupid and had no class at all, but she didn't expect her bad vocabulary to be so outrageous. How can she mix up the phrase ‘taking revenge’ with ‘taking the stage’? Does she really wish to announce to the world that she is really some wild chicken?
Everyone kept their silence and didn't speak. Ma Shanshan on the other hand never back down from her ruthless expression while she glared at Zhang Qiyun coldly.
Jiang Yu looked at the whole situation and said, "Brother Qiyun, she started this first. You also saw her when she kicked Sister Sili just now."
Ma Shanshan, could see that the girl was accusing her but she was not afraid. She sneered,
"She wanted to hit me first. Did you expect me to stay still and not fight back at all?"
Zhang Qiyun looked at Hu Sili, who had a pitiful expression as she clutched her stomach in pain, and said,
"Apologize to my sister, then I’ll consider this matter done and dusted over with."
Ma Shanshan pressed her palms down on Yang Nainai and said,
"Your father might bend over and die before I even consider apologizing to her. Zhang Qiyun, bring your wild chicken sister and take her to stage quickly before I call the police and send you to jail to repent your sins."
Ma Shanshan was completely fearless throughout the whole situation. This shocked Yang Nainai so much that she could only gape her mouth wide open to watch the whole show. She wondered if Ma Shanshan even realize that both of them would never be able to win against fighting the many opponents in front of them!
Zhang Qiyun's eyes immediately raged with fire the moment she finished her sentence. He didn't swear obscenities at her right away, but Hu Sili couldn't help but retort back,
"Fu k you, Yang Nainai. You are a shameless scumbag who had the cheek to even pen a love letter to my brother back then. How dare you even bring someone to insult me today. If I don’t kill you today then my surname will not be Hu.”
The moment her speech ended, she snatched the glass bottle from her cohort's hand and smashed it towards Yang Nainai.
Yang Nainai managed to dodge it, only to meet head on as the crazy girl rushed towards her.
Ma Shanshan suddenly screamed and hit her, helping Yang Nainai to break free from Hu Sili, who had gone instantly mad, while waiting for the security guard to help them.
Yet no one came to their rescue even though she had yelled for help for a long time. She then only realized that the people who had surrounded them all disappeared without their notice.
Hu Sili was finally pushed away from Yang Nainai. She then yelled angrily,
"What are you yelling out for? My family was the one who opened this gaming arcade. Last time I fell into your trap by fighting with you in the studio. This time we are in my own turf so I will definitely beat you until I kill you. "
Yang Nainai became bewildered when her hair was messed up by her violent hold. She began to pick up the empty chairs on the side and flung it towards those people. She then grabbed the opportunity to pull Ma Shanshan to flee the scene.
Translation corner:
[1] Chickens: Slang in Chinese used to describe prostitutes
[2] Mahler Gobi: Bolivian alpacas(草泥馬) in Chinese sounds similar to “Fu k your mother” (c hao你妈) in chinese. Since the alpacas live in the Mahler Gobi desert, it can also be used as the insult “Fu k your mother”. Apparently there’s a whole wiki page about this, you can access it here
[3] Take the stage means go on stage but Sili used the wrong phrase here as you will see later on
