But I fell in love with you - Chapter 68
The restaurant finally called Yang Nainai's waiting number, so Ma Shanshan immediately dragged her in and ordered a bunch of signature dishes. She even ordered the girly dessert that Huang Shiqi mentioned on purpose.
After ordering, the two of them waited patiently. Ma Shanshan then looked around absent-mindedly and found that almost all the guests here were couples.
She looked at Yang Nainai strangely, and asked her,
"Why is this restaurant filled with couples?"
Yang Nainai nodded helplessly,
"Why do you have this habit of realizing what happened when its too late to take it back? Didn’t you see the ‘couple’s restaurant’ tag on the signboard at the entrance?"
Ma Shanshan finally realized why everybody gave them both a weird look when they were queueing up for the restaurant. She did not drag Yang Nainai away from the restaurant but instead burst out like she uncovered a new shocking revelation.
"Then who did Huang Shiqi actually come here with? Turns out that she must have a secret boyfriend."
Yang Nainai felt so awkward that she had to give everyone around them an apologetic smile and refused to continue on the topic.
The waiter happened to serve the dishes they ordered just then and Yang Nainai began to turn on her phone while she ate the food on the table. Ma Shanshan suddenly asked her,
"What do you think?"
"What should I think about?"
Ma Shanshan rolled her eyes, "Is the lemon leaf sour?"
Yang Nainai was stunned for a moment. She only realized then that she had been too focused on checking her phone that she didn't even realize that she had put a lemon leaf (that was set as the food decoration) inside her mouth. She suddenly coughed awkwardly,
"It's okay."
She turned her head then picked up a tissue and spat out the leaf. She then chucked the balled up tissue paper at one corner.
Ma Shanshan gave her a contemptuous look,
"I think we should just finish our meal quickly and leave. I don't want other people to see us here and think that we are in a relationship together."
Yang Nainai felt the same way so she put down her phone, to stop checking Huo Yixuan's social media timeline to concentrate on her food.
Huo Yixuan didn't appear in front of her recently so she should have been happy, but she suspected that she might have develop a masochistic tendency lately. Yang Nainai couldn't hide her disappointment when he didn't show up at all.
She couldn’t possibly take the initiative to find him first because he had really committed a major sin against her that day. Huo Yixuan didn't even bow his head down to apologize at all so if she ended up bending down to his stubbornness first then wouldn’t she really be the biggest loser in their relationship?
She wanted to just let this relationship go but she just couldn’t stop thinking about it, so she secretly stalked Huo Yixuan's social media to see if anyone had posted any news about what he was doing recently.
Yet isn’t his social media timeline a bit too silent? The last comment he had posted up publicly was apparently sent in the first half of the year.
It was only then that Yang Nainai discovered that Huo Yixuan had never even posted a photo of the two of them either. For some reason, Yang Nainai felt like her heart was suddenly stomped on really hard.
Although her first response was relief since they could just breakup cleanly, her next reaction to this was anger. Huo Yixuan was really a major scumbag as he had played with her heart from the beginning till the end. This only proved that he never even thought of being responsible for her future.
A lot of conflicting and troubled thoughts plagued her for a long time, and it was a good thing that Ma Shanshan made her promise to go out today since she now felt a little better than she had for the past few days.
Yang Nainai took a deep breath and felt that falling in love had really landed her in so much hassle. She should just forget about it, break up with Huo Yixuan and study with a peace of mind.
Both of them finished the meal in under half an hour as Ma Shanshan spent the majority of that time taking a lot of photos of the food which she then posted up on her timeline as soon as they left the restaurant. She posted a caption underneath saying that they had both accidentally entered a couple's restaurant, splurged on a super expensive meal, yet the quality of the food was just average.
Finally, she even put a remark there that she will never ever come back to this pretentious restaurant in the future. This place didn't only fail to fill her stomach, it also ended up torturing both the contents of her wallet and her digestive system.
After reading what she had posted, Yang Nainai couldn't help but asked her,
"Aren't you afraid that the owner will take revenge on you and claim that you are a pretentious snob who had no taste?"
This was what had happened in the past.
Ma Shanshan snorted,
"If they dare then they can just come challenge me. I’ll just immediately report this to the Consumers Association, and complain that their food was not fresh. I can always claim that they used pork when beef was written in the menu, and they dared to even threaten their honorable customers. Just watch and see if I won’t sue them for all they have."
Yang Nainai was surprised, "How did you know about that?"
She couldn't even taste what they had actually put inside their dishes at all.
Ma Shanshan gave her a dull sideway glance as she entered the elevator,
"Of course I know, my dad is a famous chef and did you forget that I actually came from a line of famous chefs that had spanned several generations? I could already tell since I was a young child whether the pork they serve is fresh or not or even if it is of a premium quality. The most disappointing fact is that the restaurant had used meat which had been frozen a lot of times and they just slathered on the beef meat coloring to make it seem like they had used fresh beef instead. Fresh beef doesn’t have that kind of smell too. They are just doing this to deceive those obnoxious fools who pretend as if they are the upper echelons of society."
She clucked her tongue as she shook her head in disappointment.
"Nowadays, the price is not only deadly expensive for these kind of online celebrity shops. The things they sell don’t even live up to their price tags nor could the quality even be sold at those roadside hawker stalls. They only survive because of the vain support of those brainless fans, who can't even tell good things apart and treat rubbish as if they are treasures. Without them, their lives would just be a pathetic piece of excuse."
"You can even spout such deep insights when we just came here for a simple meal. I am truly amazed."
Yang Nainai burst into laughter. Her anxious meal had become a drivel about the philosophy of life. Ma Shanshan was such a funny person.
"Of course, do you even know who this sister is? I’m next in line to inherit our restaurant and become a super famous chef in the future. If you want to eat at my restaurant, you even have to make an appointment first."
Seeing Ma Shanshan's triumphant appearance, Yang Nainai nodded and applauded cooperatively,
"Yes, yes, oh wise one, you are completely right! Oh dear, will you look at the time now! Since we have finished our shopping expedition and ate until we are somewhat full, isn’t it time for us to go back home now?”
Her two poor legs were now aching so badly that they were starting to tremble. She prayed that Ma Shanshan would let her go back home and rest.
Ma Shanshan, however, looked around, and pointed to the game arcade in front of her,
"Let's play that then go back, shall we?"
"I don't know how to play those games!"
Yang Nainai looked at her helplessly. She had not even stepped into this kind of place since she was a very young child.
"If you don't know, then you can always learn it. It's rare for us to come and play on a holiday anyway. Can’t you just take it easy for once and just play one round?"
Ma Shanshan dragged her so fast into the arcade that Yang Nainai had even lost the chance to reject her.
There is a reason why Yang Nainai doesn't like gaming arcades. She lived in the countryside when she was young. Every time she happened to step into one, she would see a lot of questionable people hanging around that area. She had even seen those people fighting and smoking there too.
Yang Nainai was even almost cornered by those bullies once. From then onwards, if she could avoid those places, she would and so she developed a really deep resentment for these kind of places.
Since the urbanization process had started, those small gaming arcades slowly disappeared one after another and they were replaced by various Internet cafes, bars, and now, for some reason, such gaming arcades have started to re-appear again.
Although it is now situated in a brightly lit shopping mall, Yang Nainai was still very much against entering it.
The whole place looked really clean though and was filled with ordinary children and teenagers yet she couldn’t control that deep seated repulsion inside her heart.
To her these kind of places made it easy to set up questionable games that promotes gambling and fighting. They will only slowly lure those innocent little boys into addiction.
Her little nose wrinkled in disgust when she thought of how evil this place was.
Ma Shanshan seemed be familiar with this place since she swiftly found a dance machine and was more than ready to dance her heart out.
She had changed a lot of silver coins and managed to secure a spot on the dance machine with Yang Nainai. Since Yang Nainai was not playing, she dumped all her things on her, and started to dance happily.
She danced very well and played for a long time. Yang Nainai couldn't help but be surprised when she passed every single level she had attempted.
She was clapping in awe, and was about to give her a compliment when a sarcastic laughter came from behind.
"Yo, isn't this Yang Sumo? Are you going to dance on this too? Aren't you afraid that you’ll trample the dance machine to ruins?"
A loud roar of malicious laughter rang out as those words ended.
